Special Scheduling Considerations for Facility Use

  • Bucknell University cannot allow its resources (space, money, staff time) to be utilized to promote a political candidate. However, students on their own initiative, are not only allowed but encouraged to become involved in the political process. They may campaign for any candidates of their choosing. The restrictions apply to university resources only.

  • Any event held outdoors must be approved by the Dean of Students.

  • When scheduling a band for outdoors, the direction in which the band is playing must be pre-approved.

  • The Academic Quad is not a regularly scheduled space.

  • Any event requiring excavation, driving-in, and/or digging in excess of 18" beneath the existing surface, must have prior approval by the Facilities Labor Supervisor five working days in advance of the scheduled event. PAONECALL must be notified and approval must be given to ensure there are no underground utilities, according to PA Act 187. This Act applies to anywhere in the Commonwealth of PA and fines can be up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment. Call the office of Reservation, Information and Conference Services 577-3095 for information.
  • Posters and advertisements of any kind may not be posted on trees.

  • Filming and/or videotaping of any University facility and/or program or event for non-academic, commercial and/or personal financial gain is prohibited without expressed written permission by the General Counsel.

  • Protesting is permissible on campus if properly scheduled through the office of Reservation, Information and Conference Services, and has obtained the required approvals.

  • Open flames of any kind are not permitted.
