Facilities and Resources

 

The chemistry deartment offers an extensive array of research instrumentation for hands-on, independent student use in both research and teaching laboratories.

The department also receives a high level of support and training from Dr. Peter Findeis (Analytical Instrumentation Specialist) and Brian Breczinski (NMR Instrumentation and Computer Specialist).

Spectroscopy

  • Varian 600 MHz DirectDrive four-channel, multinuclear NMR spectrometer (9.4 Tesla) with pulsed field gradients, biomolecular liquids probe, two-channel 3.2mm magic-angle spinning solids probe and actively shielded Oxford AS600 magnet.
  • Varian 400 MHz DirectDrive two-channel, multinuclear NMR spectrometer (9.4 Tesla) with autotuning, pulsed field gradients and premium shielded magnet.
  • Bruker ARX-300 nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer (7 Tesla, double channel multinuclear capability) with direct X{H} and indirect H{X} probes and variable temperature capability.
