"I became interested in art at a very young age. At first it was more of a personal thing; it was hard for me to share with others. Bucknell has helped me to learn how to use it as an outlet to express myself.

"I first learned of Bucknell through the Bucknell Community College Scholars Program.  I had the opportunity to spend six weeks on campus over the summer, and that's when I fell in love. The inspiring faculty and gorgeous campus immediately won me over. When I went back to my community college, I knew I had to apply here.

"Since being at Bucknell, I've noticed significant growth in myself. The professors have really pushed me as an artist and challenged me to step outside my comfort zone. Photography has always been my main interest. By taking other art classes, though, I've been forced to think in a different way, which has been very challenging, yet rewarding at the same time.

"One class I gained a lot from was sculpture with Prof. Joseph Meiser. It challenged me creatively and made me view art in a new way. With sculptures you have to think about the engineering of your piece, which I had never done before. There are so many aspects to this type of art that I didn't know about. And being able to view something in a new way has ultimately expanded the way I approach photography."
