Welcome to Bucknell's French and Francophone studies program. With us, you will not only master a language spoken by millions of people people in 40 countries across the globe. You will also learn other cultures, prepare to compete in the global economy or pursue research on an international level. As part of a major, a minor, or a well-rounded liberal arts education, courses in the French and Francophone studies program will also give you the critical thinking, writing, and speaking tools you will need beyond Bucknell.

We offer exciting classes in French and Francophone language, literatures, cultures, and societies. As a student in our program, you will benefit from small class sizes and close collaboration with our dynamic faculty. Our professors combine their expertise in the literatures, cultures and societies of contemporary France, Francophone Africa, Quebec and the Caribbean with innovative pedagogies that make the best use of current technologies and multimedia.

French at Bucknell extends beyond the classroom. Every year, visiting scholars from France and the U.S. come to campus to share their research and insight. The annual French film festival brings the best of recent French and Francophone film to campus. The French Club organizes weekly activities including films, excursions, dinners, and parties. Our Teaching Assistants and exchange students from Tours, France, share the latest trends and their insight into French life.

Finally, you can experience France on a daily basis through our Bucknell en France program in Tours, France. You will live with a host family, take courses in almost any discipline or major at the Université François Rabelais, visit famous sites in France such as Paris and the Normandy beaches, and enjoy the student life in this dynamic city.
