Nathalie Dupont

Nathalie Dupont (at Bucknell since 2007)

Specializes in 20th and 21st-century French literature, with an emphasis on contemporary poetry and poetics. Teaches courses on French literature and cinema, engaging with topics such as cultural and political views on society, representation and performance of identity and the body, violence and marginality. Her current book project examines the relationship between negativity and failures in contemporary poetry and the status of the subject, with a focus on cultural, intellectual and corporal deviances. Other teaching and research interests include literary criticism, experimental approaches, Quebec literature, and film studies.

Teaches the literature and culture of the French West Indies, Quebec, and 20th-century France. Her documentary film on the island of Martinique combines French West Indian writers’ environmental and ideological concerns with actual footage of the island, showing the symptoms of cultural devastation (satellite dishes, advertisements, supermarkets, regression of the mangrove swamp, etc.)

Ruth Robenolt joined the Foreign Language Program staff in July of 2000. Ruth received her Associates Degree in Sociology in May 1999 from Susquehanna University. She has twenty-three years of experience at Bucknell University. Scheduling classes, budget coordination, and general office management are among her job assignments in the French Department, Foreign Language Programs.
