Editor of West Branch
G. C. Waldrep, Associate Professor of English and holder of the first Margaret Hollinshead Ley Professorship in Poetry and Creative Writing, is the author of five full-length collections of poems: Goldbeater's Skin (2003), winner of the Colorado Prize; Disclamor (2007); Archicembalo (2009), winner of the Dorset Prize and the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award from the Poetry Society of America; Your Father on the Train of Ghosts (2011), a collaboration with the poet John Gallaher; and a long poem, Testament (2015). With Ilya Kaminsky he co-edited Homage to Paul Celan (2011), and with Joshua Corey he co-edited The Arcadia Project: North American Postmodern Pastoral (2012). His most recent chapbook is Susquehanna (Omnidawn, 2013).
Waldrep's work has appeared in many journals, including Poetry, Ploughshares, APR, Harper's, The Nation, Kenyon Review, Boston Review, New England Review, Colorado Review, New American Writing, and Tin House, as well as in Best American Poetry 2010 and the second edition of Norton's Postmodern American Poetry. His work has earned prizes and residencies from Yaddo, the MacDowell Colony, the North Carolina Arts Council, the Campbell Corner Foundation, the Poetry Society of America, the Academy of American Poets, and the Lannan Foundation, as well as a 2007 National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Literature. His poems have been published abroad in the U.K., Ireland, Canada, and Australia, and in translation into German and Romanian. Waldrep is also the author of Southern Workers and the Search for Community, a historical monograph on the lives of Southern textile workers during the early twentieth century.
Waldrep arrived at Bucknell in 2007 after teaching stints at the University of Iowa, Deep Springs College, and Kenyon College. At Bucknell he teaches creative writing and serves as editor of West Branch. He is also Editor-at-Large for The Kenyon Review.
