Medical coverage is extremely expensive and carrying medical insurance is very important, especially in the case of a serious illness and/or accident. For this reason Bucknell has carefully chosen a plan that meets the needs of international students while they are studying at Bucknell.
You can expect to receive a bill for this plan along with your tuition statement. While domestic students have the option of waiving the Bucknell insurance for one their family already carries, international students do not have permission to use any other plan other than the Bucknell plan. U.S. students living abroad are strongly encouraged to consider buying the Bucknell Insurance. Lewisburg is serviced by a local hospital, Evangelical Community Hospital, and may not be familiar with insurance policies that are not local.
For the 2014-2015 academic year the estimated cost is $1,950.00 (subject to change). During International Student Orientation you will learn more about health insurance and how important it is in the U.S.
For directions on how to enroll in the Bucknell-sponsored Student Health Insurance, go to www.bucknellstudenthealthinsurance.com. Instructions are below the main image. You must enroll in order to receive your insurance card, which is proof of insurance.
