Explore the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail and beyond on this bike touring experience. Spend your days pedaling through the countryside of Central Pennsylvania and your nights camping under the the stars. Make unforgettable memories and valuable friendships, all the while carrying everything you need along the way. This is a Beginner to intermediate experience. You must have basic bike riding skills, know how to use hand brakes and shift gears, plus, a sense of adventure!
This is a beginner to intermediate experience. No prior cycle-touring is needed, but you should be comfortable riding a bike for a long distance. You should be able to shift gears comfortably and use hand brakes appropriately. Cycle-touring involves carrying everything you need on your bike using storage bags, racks, and sometimes towing a few bike trailers. You will be averaging 17 miles a day on the bike. The riding will be on the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail, and country roads both paved and gravel. The roads and trails can consist of flats, rolling hills, downhills, and uphills. You will be biking with car traffic at times. We will teach you the basics of cycle-touring.

Wake up, pack up equipment, and depart campus! Hit the tail "biking" - You will bike west from Bucknell university and will join the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail. You will shortly turn off the trail and enter country roads in Amish Country. You will bike 23 miles to Penns Creek Campground. You will set up camp, enjoy evening activities prepared by the trip leaders, have a great night of camping, and relaxing under the stars with your team.
You will wake up, pack up, and bike a short distance Woodward Cave. This is a local commercial cave that you and your team will explore for an hour or two! Then you are back on the bike rolling west and north until your next campsite. You will bike 16 miles to the campsite. You will set up camp, enjoy evening activities prepared by the trip leaders, have a great night of camping, and relaxing under the stars with your team.
You will wake up, pack up, and bike 16 miles to RB Winters State Park near the Bald Eagle State Forest Lands. You will set up camp, enjoy evening activities prepared by the trip leaders, have a great night of camping, and relaxing under the stars with your team.
Wake up and break down camp. Your final day will be enjoyed cruising about the final 11 miles back to the Forest D. Brown Conference Center at Cowan PA. Depending on time you may be able to participate on the ClimBucknell Challenge course. Your trip leaders will have planned activities for the day, closure activities, dinner and music with students, faculty, and staff, until 8 or 9 p.m.. Return to campus by vehicle by 9:30 p.m. Call parents, let them know that you are safe and it was the most amazing experience in your life!
