My Externship experience:
The first day, I visited the Zurich office in Philadelphia.  My host explained what a risk engineer does and described some of the ways engineers are utilized to help insurance companies.  We prepared for our site visits that we completed the next day.  During our visit to two hospitals, I had the opportunity to see how a risk engineer evaluates a company's equipment and procedures, which ultimately helps both the client and the insurance company.

How did this Externship help you make decisions about your future career?
This externship experience allowed me to inquire about the possible locations and types of companies that I might want to work for. Commuting to Philadelphia was an experience in itself, and while my trip went smoothly, I am now aware that transportation is an important factor to consider when looking at potential job opportunities.

What was the most beneficial part of your Externship experience?
I gained useful insight into the insurance industry and now have a deeper understanding of the relationship that insurance companies have with large corporations. I feel much more prepared to enter a professional working environment thanks to my externship experience.
