The College of Engineering recently opened the Richard J. Mooney Innovative Design Laboratory, a workspace in which engineering students and faculty can bring their designs and ideas to life. The facility is the gift of Pam Mooney and family in honor of her late husband, Dick Mooney ‘60.
The 2,200-square-foot space includes a large project development space, a design studio and a manufacturing space for welding, grinding and brazing.
Dick Mooney, living the “We Do” attitude, was known for his continual quest to redesign and improve upon mechanical devices. The mission of the new lab reflects that perfectly, said Pam, who noted that her husband always credited his success to his Bucknell education.
In honoring Dick in this meaningful and permanent way, Pam and her family have carried on his legacy of action for students of today and tomorrow.
