The Office of LGBTQ Resources exists to meet your needs. To that end, we offer a variety of resources to address the needs of the LGBTQ community on campus by providing information, support services and resources. We are open to students, faculty and staff. Below you will find a list of resources that may be helpful to you. 

Campus Resources

FLAG&BT (Friends of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender)

The student gay-straight alliance works to raise awareness surrounding LGBTQIA issues as well as to improve the visibility of the community. FLAG&BT meets weekly and encourages involvement of all interested students. For students interested in smaller gatherings, the organization offers smaller break-out groups to enable students to discuss ideas and concerns around particular identities. 

The LGBTQA Alumni Committee

The LGBTQA Alumni Committee aims to provide leadership and a supportive presence for LGBTQ individuals and their allies at Bucknell University through encouragement, programming and mentoring.

The Offices of the Dean of Students

The Offices of the Dean of Students are committed to ensuring students' safety and to foster an atmosphere conducive to learning. Stop by the Elaine Langone Center (ELC), second floor, or call 570.577.1601 with any questions or concerns. Some of the Offices are listed below.

International Student Services (ISS)

The Office of International Student Services (ISS) provides assistance and resources to international students at Bucknell University. ISS works closely with Multicultural Student Service, the Women's Resource Center and the Office of LGBTQ Resources to support all under-represented students in the multiple ways they identify.

Multicultural Student Services (MSS)

For over a decade, the Bucknell University Office of Multicultural Student Services (MSS) has served Bucknell and its constituents. MSS works closely with Multicultural Student Service, the Women's Resource Center and the Office of LGBTQ Resources to support all under-represented students in the multiple ways they identify.

Women's Resource Center (WRC)

Because sexism, heterosexism and homophobia are closely related, the Women's Resource Center has been a long-time ally of the LGBTQIA community. The Center offers a variety of educational programs and has valuable print resources available. Call 570.577.1375 for detailed information.

Counseling & Student Development Center

Counselors offer a safe place to explore any and all feelings regarding issues of sexuality. Call 570.577.1604 for an appointment; 24-hour on call for emergencies.

Bucknell Student Health

LGBTQIA students wanting to discuss general and sexual health concerns are welcome to contact Bucknell's Student Health Services staff at 570.577.1401.

Religion and Spirituality

The University Chaplains offer affirming spiritual support and information on individuals and congregations which welcome lesbians, gay men and bisexuals. Call the Office of Religious & Spiritual Life at 570.577.1592. 



Regional Resources

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Community Center Coalition

The LGBT Community Center Coalition is a volunteer-led effort to create a regionally representative community center that is both a location and a unifying point for central Pennsylvania's large, diverse and multi-county LGBTQ population.

The Pennsylvania Student Equality Coalition

The Pennsylvania Student Equality Coalition (PENNSEC) is a youth-led organization dedicated to advocacy across the state on issues relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth. Comprised of leaders from youth-led LGBTQ organizations across Pennsylvania, they work in educational institutions and local communities on behalf of LGBTQ young people.

Equality Pennsylvania

Equality Pennsylvania is the only organization in the Commonwealth advocating in Harrisburg and across the state, exclusively for the rights of LGBT Pennsylvanians.

The Central Voice

Central Voice is Central Pennsylvania's only LGBTQ newspaper, dedicated to assisting and promoting LGBTQ communities and their supporters through social networks that strive to enhance communication, acceptance and equality.

Alder Health Services

Alder Health Services is dedicated to providing high quality health, wellness and support programming to individuals and communities who have traditionally been marginalized by the mainstream health care system. Their programs specialize in meeting the unique needs of individuals living with HIV/AIDS, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and individuals who are struggling with addiction. Among other services, the center offers free confidential/anonymous HIV testing at locations throughout South Central Pennsylvania.


TransCentralPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the transgender community in and around Central Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Diversity Network

The Pennsylvania Diversity Network works to foster strength and vitality in the LGBTQ Community by providing news, information, advocacy, presentations, programs, events and other services.


National Resources

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)

(PFLAG) is a national non-profit organization with over 200,000 members and supporters and over 350 affiliates in the United States.

Campus Pride

Campus Pride is the only national organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBT students. The primary objective of Campus Pride is to develop necessary resources, programs and services to support LGBT and ally students on college campuses across the United States.

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force works to build the grassroots power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Their focus is on training activists, equipping state and local organizations with the skills needed to organize broad-based campaigns to defeat anti-LGBT referenda and on the advancement  of pro-LGBTQ legislation, and building the organizational capacity of the movement.

Point Foundation

The Point Foundation provides financial support, mentoring, leadership training and hope to meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Advocates for Youth

Advocates for Youth champions efforts that help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. Advocates believes it can best serve the field by boldly advocating for a more positive and realistic approach to adolescent sexual health. Advocates focuses its work on young people ages 14-25 in the U.S. and around the globe.


As a voice for bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer-identified and all other "somewhere in between" people as well as their lesbian, gay, transgender, "straight but not narrow" and questioning friends and allies, BiNet USA facilitates the development of a cohesive network of independent bisexual and bi-friendly communities; promotes bisexual, pansexual and bi-inclusive visibility; and collects and distribute educational information regarding sexual orientation and gender identity with an emphasis on the bisexual and pansexual and allied communities.

Human Rights Campaign

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. HRC seeks to improve the lives of LGBTQ Americans by advocating for equal rights and benefits in the workplace, ensuring families are treated equally under the law and increasing public support among all Americans through innovative advocacy, education and outreach programs.

The National Black Justice Coalition

The National Black Justice Coalition is a civil rights organization dedicated to empowering Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. As America's leading national Black LGBTQ civil rights organization focused on federal public policy, the National Black Justice Coalition has accepted the charge to lead Black families in strengthening the bonds and bridging the gaps between straight and LGBT people and communities.

Gay-Straight Alliance Network

The Gay-Straight Alliance Network is a youth leadership organization that connects school-based Gay-Straight Alliances to each other and community resources through peer support, leadership development, and training.

The Asexual Visibility and Education Network

AVEN hosts the world's largest online asexual community as well as a large archive of resources on asexuality. AVEN strives to create open, honest discussion about asexuality among sexual and asexual people alike.

The National Center for Lesbian Rights

The National Center for Lesbian Rights is a national legal organization committed to advancing the civil and human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their families through litigation, public policy advocacy, and public education.

National Coalition for LGBT Health

The Coalition is committed to improving the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals through federal advocacy that is focused on research, policy, education, and training.

Lambda Legal

Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.

The Sylvia Rivera Law Project

The Sylvia Rivera Law Project works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination or violence.

The Transgender Law Center

The Transgender Law Center (TLC) is a civil rights organization advocating for transgender communities. They connect transgender people and their families to technically sound and culturally competent legal services, increase acceptance and enforcement of laws and policies that support California's transgender communities, and work to change laws and systems that fail to incorporate the needs and experiences of transgender people.

Dignity USA

Dignity USA is organized to unite gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Catholics, as well as their families, friends and loved ones in order to develop leadership, and be an instrument through which LGBT individuals may be heard by and promote reform in the Church.


Soulforce is committed to relentless nonviolent resistance to bring freedom to lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender, and queer people from religious & political oppression.

The National Center for Transgender Equality

The National Center for Transgender Equality social justice organization dedicated to advancing the equality of transgender people through advocacy, collaboration and empowerment.

Learning Trans

Learning Trans is a project with the goal to produce and highlight trans community-produced knowledge. The organization provides community-generated knowledge for the trans-community, academics, service providers, and others.

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health promotes the highest standards of health care for individuals through the articulation of Standards of Care (SOC) for the Health of Transsexual, Transgender, and Gender Nonconforming People. The SOC are based on the best available science and expert professional consensus.
