Department and Program Learning Objectives

Majors in Animal Behavior will be able to:

Understand evolutionary theory and the ecological pressures that shape the behavior of animals (1, 2, 6, 8)

Understand the biologically determined mechanisms that control behavior and mediate the effects of evolutionary influences. (1,2,6,8)

Understand the diversity of behavior and the biodiversity of animal life. (1,2,4,6,8)

Use scientific hypothesis testing to design and conduct research projects, analyze the results and produce an oral and written product of the work using scientific style. (1,2,6,7,8,9)

Conduct literature searches that allow them to select appropriate sources and write critical essays on theories and research relating to evolutionary theory and animal behavior. (1,2,6,7,8,9)

Complete the requirements that will allow them to succeed in a graduate or professional program appropriate to their degree (BS or BA) (9)
