The BizPitch Competition is open to full-time students at Bucknell University. Students may compete in teams or solo. Students may be contributing members of multiple teams, but may only be a part of the pitch presentation for one entry. Teams may include members who are not Bucknell students, but presenters must be Bucknell students, and the team/company must be at least 50% owned by full-time Bucknell students. Entries may not have won a top 3 prize in previous Bucknell BizPitch Competitions, and firms that have generated over $100,000 in revenue.
Competitors will present a 5 minute pitch to a panel of judges, followed by a brief question and answer period. Judges will award up to 10 points in each of the following categories:
Competitors can also earn important "extra credit" points in the preliminary round, as well as a special "Social Media Star" prize in the final event by building an online presence; especially with videos (FaceBook Live, YouTube, Instagram, etc), and by mentioning #BizPitch17 and @BucknellSBDC
First prize for BizPitch17 will be at least $2,500.
Prizes will also be awarded for 2nd place, 3rd place, Social Media Star, and a special "Fan Favorite" based on audience voting during the final event on November 14th!
Prizes will be issued to your company (if established) or to the individual identified as CEO if you have not yet started your company. Prizes are subject to tax withholding, and any individuals receiving prizes must be Bucknell students. Follow @BucknellSBDC and #BizPitch17 for prize amount announcements.
Preliminary round: 10/23, 5pm orientation, Center room, Elaine Langone Center; followed by individual pitch sessions to be scheduled between 5:30pm to 8:00pm
Finalists announced: 10/24
Mentor sessions and special promotional events with Finalists: TBA 10/26 -11/10.
Final Event: 11/14 5pm Terrace Room, Elaine Langone Center; open to the public.
By submitting this application form you give permission to the Bucknell SBDC and Bucknell University to use your likeness, company name, company logo, and company video in promotional media. Teams should carefully assess intellectual property considerations and the proprietary nature of their presentation materials, as the final BizPitch presentation will be open to the public. Students retain intellectual property rights to the materials submitted and presented.
