Awards for Students
Awards of Excellence are given to a member of each class for displaying exceptional leadership through their involvement and impact on campus.
The Bridge-Builder Award is given to the student who has successfully worked across the usual boundaries of campus life to bring together student groups, students and faculty/staff, or students and area residents.
Bison Award for Excellence in Co-Curricular Activities recognizes seniors who have made significant contributions to various co-curricular and community activities. Criteria for selection are the breadth and depth of involvement and is not limited to the holding of formal offices.
The Don Stechschulte Change Agent Award is given to the student who has shown the courage and vision to actively advocate for positive change on campus and/or in the world. The recipient should be someone who believes deeply in an idea or project and helps others see that it can be done, in spite of obstacles.
Gerald W. Commerford Orange and Blue Award is given to a student who demonstrates passion, spirit and a committed desire to make Bucknell a better place.
The Civility and Respect Award is given to a student who exhibits the ideals of civility and mutual respect in their actions and words and works to promote inclusiveness among all members of the Bucknell community.
The Community Outreach Award is given to a student who has unselfishly given of his/her time and energy in serving the local community above and beyond normal expectations.
The Emerging Leader Award is given to a student in the first-year or sophomore class who has become active in co-curricular activities and has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential. This person does not necessarily need to hold a formal office.
The Student Leadership Mentor Award is given to a student who has consistently helped identify, encourage, and support students in their leadership development.
The Student Organization Award is given to a group of students who have significantly impacted their group, the campus, or the community through innovation, collaboration, and the quality of leadership they have displayed.
Awards for faculty, administrative, and support staff
The Forrest D. Brown Award is given annually to a member of the faculty, administrative, or support staff who has repeatedly demonstrated a commitment to the community and its needs, and who has also affected the lives of Bucknell students by impressing upon them the values of community service.
The Leadership Mentor Award is given to a member of the faculty, administrative, or support staff, who has consistently helped identify, encourage, and support students in their leadership development. This person need not be in a position which has formal student leadership responsibilities.
