Sample Schedule

  • 7:30 a.m. – Students are responsible for getting up and ready, eating, and getting to class on time.
  • 8:30-noon – Morning instruction, involving lecture and laboratory experiences.
  • Noon-12:50 p.m. – Lunch. Students are escorted to lunch and given free time after eating. Students are responsible for returning to class on time.
  • 1-4:30 p.m. – Afternoon instruction, involving lecture and laboratory experiences.
  • 4:30-5:30 p.m. – Outdoor activities.
  • 5:30-7 p.m. – Dinner. Students eat and return to the Chemistry building accompanied by a Camp Counselor.
  • 7-8 p.m. – Evening instruction.
  • 8-9:30 p.m. – Academic activities.
  • 9:30-10:30 p.m. – Free time in halls. Camp Counselors are available to students for meetings.
  • 10:30 p.m. – Quiet time
  • 11 p.m. – Lights out

Benefits of Participation

This summer program is designed to prepare students for the college experience, with seminars by University professors, guest lectures from chemists working in the industry, instructional demonstrations, hands-on experience in the laboratories, and the opportunity to meet other students with similar interests.

Program Cost

The cost for the 2018 camp upon acceptance is $695.

Cost includes: tuition for instruction/materials, housing, all meals, a camp t-shirt, and a department/parent/camper dinner on the last day of camp.

Also, if you decide to apply for admission to Bucknell University after attending Chemistry Camp, your application fee will be waived.

Housing & Meals

Students are housed in residence halls on the Bucknell campus with 24/7 supervision by camp counselors. Students' meals are provided by Bucknell Dining Services.

Residential Activities

There are various activities including sports and friendly academic competitions. All activities are supervised.
