Program Director: Michael Drexler
The English department at Bucknell encourages collegial relationships between professors and graduate students, as well as among graduate students themselves.
An extensive schedule of guest writers and lecturers enrich the program of study. Bucknell is home to the Bucknell University Press and the literary journal West Branch.
The graduate program in English offers a structure consisting of eight seminars in English or seven seminars in English and one in another humanities discipline. Seminars require active participation, student reports, oral and written, and a substantial paper. All seminars require the permission of the instructor.
The Bucknell M.A. in English is designed for:
- those who plan to pursue a Ph.D.
- those who plan to teach in high school or community colleges.
- those who desire to advance in related careers or programs of study.
