Each semester, the Department of English prepares a list showing how each offered course might fulfill your major or minor requirements for our degree programs.
Before meeting with your advisor, take a minute to review:
The minimum requirement for a major in literary studies is nine courses. Foundation Seminars or 100-level courses other than ENLS 199 Survey of English and American Literature will not satisfy major requirements. The Course Catalog provides detailed coursework requirements for both the major and minor in literary studies. View course descriptions.
Concentration in Race and Literature
The Literary Studies major includes a concentration in Race and Literature as an option that enables students to focus on African American, Latino/a, Caribbean, Asian American, and Native/American Indian/Indigenous literatures and critical theories of race.
