The mathematics department offers three degree programs. Full details about the requirements for each degree can be found in the Course Catalog.
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
Students interested in pursuing a career in mathematics or science should enroll in the Bachelor of Science program.
Requirements: 10 mathematics courses beyond the introductory year of Calculus, related lab science courses, and a culminating experience.
Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics
Students with strong interests outside of mathematics and science might prefer the Bachelor of Arts program. This option allows even more freedom to take a variety of courses across the university. It is also a popular choice for students who double major.
Requirements: 8 mathematics courses beyond the introductory year of Calculus, one related course, and a culminating experience.
Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematical Sciences
This program is for students who want a strong background in applied mathematics or statistics and are interested in applying these tools in a field outside of mathematics. Students choose either the Statistics Concentration or the Applied Mathematics Concentration.
Requirements: 10 mathematics courses beyond the introductory year of calculus, a computing course, five courses in a different program, and a culminating experience.

Mathematics Education Certification
Students interested in teaching mathematics at the middle school or high school level may choose to pursue the PA Certification to teach Secondary Mathematics (Grades 7-12).
Student complete a B.A. or B.S. in Mathematics and designated courses in Education. See the courses required.
Economics and Mathematics
Students with a strong interest in economics and mathematics can consider the B.S. degree from the Mathematical Economics program.
In either the B.S. or B.A. in Mathematics program it is possible to obtain a designated Concentration in Pure Mathematics or a Concentration in Statistics by choosing electives appropriately.
The department also offers a Mathematics Minor.
