The Honors Program at Bucknell is supervised by a University-wide "Honors Council." Qualified majors should consult the Catalogue and members of the Department. Honors study provides a special opportunity for the qualified student to undertake significant independent research and prepare a thesis, which is evaluated by members of the Department and a representative of the Honors Council. There is an oral examination covering the thesis.

If you wish to attempt Honors in Political Science, consult with a member of the staff who you believe might be willing to serve as your Honors Advisor to learn if you qualify. When an Honors Prospectus has been written, the entire staff will review it and, if you qualify and the project is suitable, we will submit it to the Honors Council. Normally, majors complete the Honors project during the Senior year, but a student is well advised to begin to plan the project during the Junior year.
