My research program focuses on 1) mathematical learning and development in early childhood, 2) the behavioral, neural, and cognitive effects of learning new mathematical ideas through gestures or transitive actions, and 3) the relationship between early social or home environments and later cognitive skills and academic outcomes. I work primarily with children ages 3-12 years, and my research takes place in the laboratory, at nearby schools, and in collaboration with Lewisburg community organizations.
