"We know what we are, but know not what we may be." Ophelia knows that no one can foretell the future but we know that in our department, our theatre and dance students can actualize their greatest potential.

Experience every aspect of theatre and staging. Perform, design, direct, collaborate and experiment - while our professors inspire, entertain and challenge you. Whether you're interested in costume, makeup, sound, set or lighting design, you are an all-around artist, not a mere player. That's how we'll treat you, and that's how we'll teach you.

Did You Know?

Auditions and production opportunities are open to all students.

We value collaboration, hands-on learning, imagination, curiosity, and experimentation.

Bucknell's theatre and dance faculty members are all active artists and scholars.

Each year, faculty, professional staff, and students collaborate to produce five mainstage productions, numerous student showcases, and a series of student directed one-act plays.

We host guest artist residencies every semester.

Kelly Knox

Associate Professor

Kelly Knox

"Students might be classicists or scientists, and they can bring that into the creative process or into the classroom in a way that we can learn from each other. It's a wonderful exchange."

Anjalee Hutchinson

Assistant Professor

Anjalee Hutchinson

"Business classes teach students how to collaborate effectively all the time. In theater, it sometimes is the one thing that gets overlooked, but it's the most important, I think, if they are going to look at doing theatre professionally."
