Dear Members of the Bucknell University Community:
We are pleased to provide another update on the search for our next Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences (A&S). As hoped, this opportunity has attracted a strong and diverse pool of candidates. The committee recently completed initial interviews with candidates from a range of backgrounds and institutions and has identified several highly qualified individuals to advance to the finalist stage.
Several finalists will visit campus in the coming weeks and will meet in small groups with faculty, staff, and students.
We will share internally and confidentially each candidate’s name and CV within 24 hours before each open forum. We ask for your cooperation in keeping the identities of these candidates confidential within the boundaries of our campus community. Keeping their identities confidential will protect our candidates’ privacy at their current institutions and therefore give Bucknell the greatest possible latitude and advantage in hiring our next dean of A&S. Please do not contact anyone at these candidates’ home institutions. If you know people whom you think we should contact for additional information, we request that you send those names directly to us, the search committee co-chairs, and we will ensure that all due diligence is performed thoroughly and carefully.
Thank you very much in advance for your participation in this important process. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are excited to move forward to the next phase of the search and will update you again soon with more details about the visits.
Barbara Altmann and Abe Feuerstein, Search Committee Co-Chairs
