Jen Bryant writes biographies, novels and poems for readers of all ages. A River of Words, her biography of the poet-doctor William Carlos Williams, illustrated by Melissa Sweet, received a Caldecott Honor in 2009. Her latest book, A Splash of Red: The Life and Art of Horace Pippin, received four starred reviews and is a Junior Library Guild selection. Jen's historical novels in verse include RINGSIDE 1925, Pieces of Georgia, The Trial, and Kaleidoscope Eyes. Jen has taught Writing and Literature at West Chester University and Bryn Mawr College and gives workshops and school presentations throughout the year. Jen lives in Glenmoore, PA with her husband, Neil, her daughter Leigh (a 2011 Bucknell graduate), and their Springer Spaniel Sam, who managed to nose his way into one of her novels.
