The Mechanical Engineering Department at Bucknell University seeks quality applicants for one or more open-rank visiting faculty positions to begin August 2018. The position(s) may be extended beyond one year; reappointment would be subject to need and satisfactory performance.

We anticipate the need for faculty with teaching ability in various areas of mechanical engineering, such as mechanical design, manufacturing, computational methods, and/or thermo-fluids. We seek individuals with enthusiasm for teaching and the ability to communicate complex technical topics to students. Evidence should be provided regarding the ability to teach a broad range of mechanical engineering subjects. Candidate applications should identify specific courses that match their expertise.

A successful candidate must be ABD or have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline at time of appointment. Clear evidence of the potential for teaching excellence is essential, and a strong interest in continued professional development is expected.

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Bucknell University believes that students learn best in a diverse, inclusive community and is therefore committed to academic excellence through diversity in its faculty, staff, and students. We seek candidates who are committed to Bucknell's efforts to create a climate that fosters the growth and development of a diverse student body, and we strongly encourage members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in higher education to apply.

Applications must include a cover letter, a teaching statement (no more than 2 pages), a research statement (no more than 2 pages), and a current C.V. Applicants will provide references upon request. Applications will only be accepted online through Bucknell's career site (careers.bucknell.edu) and they will be reviewed beginning on March 15, 2018 in the order in which they are received until the position is filled.
