All GC Scholars are required to initiate and complete a research project or major project under faculty supervision related in some way to their GC of interest. The major project could involve design and/or fabrication instead of research. A Scholar's faculty/staff subcommittee may be able to help the Scholar identify potential faculty research supervisors. This research can be accomplished during the academic year if a professor is willing to supervise an independent study (0.5 or 1.0 credit). More commonly, though, this research occurs during the summer, with students often receiving funding through the Program for Undergraduate Education (PUR). (PUR applications are due in early February.) Each Scholar is required to present their research before they graduate, either at one of the current research symposia on campus or at a future GCSP Symposia.
