I spent the summer working for Professors Katie Bieryla and Michael Thompson studying cell phone accelerometers and how they could be used to assist in the diagnosis of ADHD. I enjoyed having a lot of responsibility on such a large project, and needing to follow such a strict work schedule was a very rewarding experience. I spent the first half of the summer attempting to integrate acceleration data up to position movement, and the second half working with test subjects to acquire more relevant data for the project. My favorite part of the summer was definitely getting to make my test subjects do all the funny stuff we needed and seeing how their movements showed up in the data. Coming back to the school year, I was ready to get back to work and didn't feel stagnant like I typically do. I would encourage everyone to do research here over the summer - I had a great time and learned a lot.
