My program of research concerns ideologies of language and their interrelationships with linguistic forms. I have concentrated my studies on language use as it intersects with the educational concerns of culturally and linguistically diverse communities. I am particularly interested in children's verbal art and the social, cultural, and intellectual work that children accomplish through talk. Undergirding my work is my deep commitment to disrupting linguistic hegemony as it applies to schooling. In this regard, my work also speaks to educational policy issues concerning language- and culture-minoritized peoples.
