Bucknell's strong record of preparing people for graduate school and for careers in the traditional geological professions has recently been complemented by our evolution toward environmental geosciences. For that reason we now offer four different majors, a B.A. and a B.S. in Geology, and a B.A. and a B.S. in Environmental Geology. A B.S. degree is usually appropriate for a person who clearly plans a career in professional geoscience, especially if that career involves some further study in graduate school. For students who are less certain about their goals, or who wish to double major (a major in geology and a second major in another department), the B.A. degree might be more appropriate.
The lists below outline the four majors, but the University Catalog should be consulted for notes about additions, exceptions and alternatives.
The six core courses:
B.A. in Geology (8 Geology courses)
B.A. in Environmental Geology
B.S. in Geology (11.5 Geology courses)
B.S. in Environmental Geology (11.5 Geology courses)
