As an undergraduate, Drew Mathieson played varsity tennis and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and a number of honorary societies. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, he earned a master's degree from Carnegie Institute of Technology. His father, Andrew R. Mathieson, Class of 1920, was a former member of the Bucknell Board of Trustees. Drew continued that legacy by serving on the Board of Trustees from 1968-87. As a trustee, he was chair of the finance committee for many years and was one of the earliest trustees to realize the impact a strong endowment would have on the university. He has been president of the Bucknell Alumni Association, class agent for Annual Giving, and a member of the 1984 Presidential Search Committee. Recently, he has been deeply involved with The Bucknell Campaign and a member of his reunion gift committee. He passed his loyalty and dedication to service to two of his children, Peggy and Peter, who both graduated from Bucknell and contribute significantly to the university in their own right. They, in fact, established the Andrew Wray Mathieson Scholarship to honor both their father and grandfather.
