With a dedication to Bucknell that spans five decades, Art Kinney has been a trustee, campaign chair, a prodigious and tireless volunteer, and exemplary benefactor.
While earning a bachelor's degree in political science, he was an officer of Sigma Chi fraternity, active in student government, and on the varsity football team.
After graduation, he served two years in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of captain. He began his professional career with the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of CIGNA, holding managerial positions in Rochester and Pittsburgh. In 1982, he became regional vice president in Chicago. He retired from CIGNA in 1991 to establish his own consulting firm, specializing in management development and building profitable sales organizations. In 1994, he was inducted into the CIGNA Hall of Fame.
Through all these years, he has stayed active in university affairs. He served as president of alumni clubs in Pittsburgh, Rochester and Chicago. He was the board director of the Bucknell Alumni Association from 1971-76. He has been a trustee of the university since 1985.
In 1993, he was named Bucknell's Chairman of the National Committee on Fund-Raising. Currently, he is the chair of The Bucknell Campaign:Preparing for the Next Century and also serves as the chair of the Campaign Cabinet. He also is a member of the Trustee Gifts Committee, a member of the Ellen Clarke Bertrand Society, and has been a popular speaker at numerous Bucknell events. In 1995, he established the Kinney Scholarship.
