Members of the Class of 1956 who have served on Bucknell's Board of Trustees: David Ekedahl, Ernest Kalman, Arthur Kinney, James Leo, Samuel Posner, James W. Schubauer.

Generally the Loyalty Award is presented to an individual. This year we have a unique opportunity to recognize the exemplary service of not one, but six men in the same class year, who by their collective extraordinary service to our university over the 50 years since graduation have become the personification of loyalty to Bucknell.

Gentlemen, your gifts of talent, treasure, and time now numbering 95 years of Trustee and Emeritus Trustee Service ... and counting ... have left an indelible mark on your alma mater. Each of you has served in important roles for Bucknell, including Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of a Presidential Search Committee, Chairman of The Bucknell Campaign: Preparing for the Next Century, on the executive committee of the Board, and as chairman of almost every trustee committee. Your generosity has endowed numerous scholarships and programs, including Undergraduate Biomedical Research, the Fund for Undergraduate Research in the Sciences, the Chemistry Research Fund, and the Jewish Life and Learning Program. You have given a dormitory, classrooms, a lecture hall, and you have endowed programs to honor distinguished professors and administrators.

Among you are corporate executives, religious leaders, entrepreneurs, and business owners. While each of you has attained success in your careers and in your lives, among your most significant accomplishments is that each of you has sent children to Bucknell. Some are here to honor you today. Significantly, two of them are celebrating their 25th reunion today.

You have given back to Bucknell many times over and in so many ways that it would take the rest of the day to enumerate all of them. At important times in Bucknell's history your leadership has truly made a difference in propelling Bucknell forward. The passion of each of you for Bucknell, your counsel, your personal involvement, and continuing generosity have had enormous impact on Bucknell that will continue in years to come.

Gentlemen, it is with profound gratitude and appreciation that the Bucknell Alumni Association presents the Bucknell Loyalty Award to the Class of 1956 Classmates who serve on Bucknell University's Board of Trustees.
