Brenda Earl De Paola '81 graduated with a degree in international relations and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

She began her business career in institutional equity sales at Hambrecht & Quist and then Prescott, Ball and Turben. Brenda joined Zweig-DiMenna in 1988 as a research analyst and later became a portfolio manager. Within three years, she became a senior vice president and had the distinction of becoming one of the firm's four partners. Brenda not only refined the Zweig-DiMenna's stock selection methods, but she also built the firm's team of research analysts.

At the turn of the century, Zweig-DiMenna managed $8 billion in long and short equity dollars, making it one of the top hedge fund firms on Wall Street. Brenda was listed in Financial World's top Wall Street earners in 2000 and was the only woman on the list. In 2004, she was honored by 100 Women in Hedge Funds, receiving their prestigious Leadership Award for being a pioneer in the hedge fund industry.
Brenda retired in 2004 to spend more time with her family. She is now a private investor in hedge funds, real estate, stocks, private companies and hotels via her company, Earl Enterprises, LLC.

And she still has had time for Bucknell. At the age of 37, Brenda was the youngest woman ever named to the Bucknell Board of Trustees as an alumni trustee. She continues to serve on the Investment Committee where she specializes in alternative investments. She has been active in the Bucknell Fundraising Committee for each of her reunion years, was a member of the Bucknell Alumni Board of Directors for six years, and is a Bucknell Alumni career consultant. She and her husband, Mike, have also funded three Bucknell scholarships.

With substantial philanthropic involvement, she has served and contributed to the National Hemophilia Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Central Park Conservancy, and is currently a member of the board of directors of the Brick Church School.

Brenda and Mike have 3 children - Devon, Madison, and Jaclyn.

It is with great pleasure that The Bucknell Alumni Association honors Brenda Earl De Paola, Class of 1981, with its Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Chosen Profession.
