Guy O. Williams ’76As president and CEO of Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice, Guy Williams is making strides to accomplish his dream — a "dream to see a city that is vibrant across all aspects of the society — a place where the current disparities of power, wealth and education are greatly reduced, and where the voices of the 'people-at-large' are always heard and respected by decision makers." (Bucknell Magazine, Winter 2015)

Guy is also principal and founder of G.O. Williams & Associates, L.L.C., which provides strategic advising to sustainable community and environmentally related programs. He previously served as program manager for Fair Food Foundation and as senior director for Community Development & Relations at National Wildlife Federation.

He is recognized nationally for his work as an advocate for environmental justice and a developer of community programming that values effective collaborations among business, government and community interests. His successes in guiding a program's strategic development, supporting its funding and directing its implementation are hallmarks of his accomplishments.

Named 2014 Michigan Green Leader by the Detroit Free Press, Guy is currently chair of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Board of Directors and chair emeritus of the Great Lakes Leadership Academy Board of Governors. He serves as director for the boards of Eastern Market Corporation (Detroit) and Pesticide Action Network North America, and is a member of the advisory boards for the Center for Urban Responses to Environmental Stressors and the Great Lakes Integrated Sciences & Assessment Center.

Guy graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1976. He lives in the Detroit Michigan area with his wife Susan, and he has two grown stepchildren.
