BuzardTom Buzard spent 35 years as a surgeon with the Fuld Medical Center (now the Capital Health System) in Trenton, N.J. During this time, he served as chief of surgery, president of the medical staff, medical director, and a member of the Board of Governors.

During his career, he pioneered new medical procedures, greatly raised the level of surgical care in his region, and was widely recognized for his caring support to all patients.

In the mid-90s, he led a drive to establish a Trauma Center in Trenton. He set aside a portion of his own clinical practice and worked passionately and tirelessly until a Level II Trauma Center opened in 1998. He also has played a major role in the development of a $40 million building project. The first phase, an $11 million facility consisting of three additional Trauma rooms and a state-of-the-art emergency room, opened last year. Phase II, a $29 million addition, will be completed this summer.

Tom and his wife, Betty, have three children, two of whom graduated from Bucknell.
