Charlie Pollock received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a concentration in Theater and completing substantial graduate study at Bucknell University.  He was a member of Delta Upsilon as an undergraduate student and served as the University's chapter's advisor when he returned to Bucknell.

Charlie Pollock's higher education administrative career began at Juniata College (1974 - 81) and Ohio Wesleyan University (1981 - 86) as Director for Public Relations Programs.  He also had enrollment management responsibilities at Ohio Wesleyan and also at Allegheny College (1986 - 98) as well as serving as Allegheny's interim Chief Development Officer in 1988.

Charlie's deep love for Bucknell University and the community of Lewisburg brought him and his wife Gayle back in 1998 as he had served as Assistant to the President and Secretary of the University.  In 1999 Charlie was named interim Vice President for Student Affairs.

Charlie had a passion for establishing a strong, direct relationship with Lewisburg, promoting him to the position he had held since 2006 as the Senior Vice President for External Relations.  This new position for Bucknell comprises the University's efforts to help strengthen the local tax base, the regional economy, and the local schools.  President Mitchell recognized Charlie's zeal for the job, he said of Charlie, "he recognized that while Bucknell had strategic interests of its own, it also could be a good neighbor."

Charlie was a great gift to the community as well as Bucknell, his leadership style of inspiring, empowering, and guiding people was recognized in Lewisburg Downtown Partnership which he served as President and Board Member.  The group's purpose is to promote economic vitality, architectural heritage and cultural vibrancy.  The Executive Director of the partnership is quoted as saying, "He has left a lasting imprint on the Lewisburg community that will continue to bear fruit for years to come."

Charlie Pollock also had leadership roles in the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership, The Forum for Pennsylvania's Heartland, the Greater Susquehanna Keystone Innovation Zone, the Union County Industrial Development Corp., Evangelical Community Hospital (Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors), Lewisburg Neighborhoods Corp. and he served on the Geisinger Health System Advisory Council.

In July of 2008, the campus and community mourned when Charlie R. Pollock died.  He is surely missed by all who have been touched by him, but his memory and his work and efforts will remain in our hearts and community forever.
