Highlights from the 2012 festival.

The Samek Gallery celebrated Arts. Everywhere. by opening the event--and its fall exhibition--with jazz music from the Barry Long Trio, marking the return of music to the Gallery! Refreshments were served, and Dusk to Dusk: Unsettled, Unraveled and Unreal was on display. Each work in this international selection of renowned contemporary artists explored the world through a darker lens, examining visions of modern anxieties in an introspective way, rewarding viewers with a provocative and unusual visual interaction.

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts kicked off its 25th season with open house tours of the Center as well as special guests Red Baraat. World music fusion group Red Baraat hails from Brooklyn, New York and performs a synthesis of Indian bhangra and New Orleans jazz sure to infuse you with the urge to dance!

♦ The Bucknell & Lewisburg Downtown Arts Street Festival took place on South 4th Street. Food and music was plentiful, and the Stadler Center's Poetry Path was opened!


The Campus Theatre in Downtown Lewisburg screened the 1968 family musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Friday evening. Cost was 25¢ for adults and 10¢ for children.

♦ The Griot Institute for Africana Studies presented the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble, African dancers and drummers from Philadelphia, who performed on Bucknell's Science Quad.


The Samek Gallery was open and featured its fall show, Dusk to Dusk.


The Stadler Center for Poetry highlighted the art of creative writing with readings of both poetry & fiction from Bucknell students and award-winning faculty and staff, who write professionally and publish widely.


The 24-Hour Play Project matched current members of Cap and Dagger, one of Bucknell's oldest student clubs at over 100 years, with new incoming students to collaborate, create and perform original plays, all within a 24-hour period.
