Immersion Experiences

Building Global Solidarity

Immersion experiences offer Bucknell community members opportunities to deeply engage with new cultures while participating in meaningful community-based learning situations. These perspective-altering experiences allow participants to examine their own backgrounds and biases while learning directly from our host communities. For the 2019-2020 academic year, the Office of Civic Engagement will offer week-long trips to Houston and Puerto Rico to support hurricane recovery efforts.

Applications for these trips will be available September 9. Please check back in for any updates.

Immersion Trips

Non-affiliated Alternative Break Trips

There are many alternative break programs not formally associated with the Office of Civic Engagement that offer deep educational and service experiences. In addition to Bucknell-sponsored alternative break trips, students may wish to consider these programs.

Plan Your Own Experience

Students can design their own learning and service opportunities and pursue their passion for making a difference.

If you are interested in planning a student immersion experience, visit the Office of Civic Engagement to talk to us in person.
