Shara McCallumIn the 2014-15 programming year, the Stadler Center welcomes St. Lucian poet and playwright Kendel Hippolyte as the Sojka Visiting Poet in October and, in the early part of the spring semester, Chase Twichell as our Poet-in-Residence. Other visitors in the Stadler Center Writers Series this year are poets Evie Shockley, Paula Bohince, Greg Wrenn, David St. John, and Anna Journey, and fiction writers Caitlin Horrocks and Percival Everett. This year the Stadler Center Slams, which pair a performance by our visiting poets with an open-mic, will feature Jericho Brown, Tanya Olson, Roger Reeves, and Dorothea Lasky. Our Children's Series will host storyteller Fiona Powell in December and renowned children's author John Stadler in April. Please see our Schedule of Events for details on all author visits and events.

In 2014-15 we are also very pleased to welcome poet Chet'la Sebree in her first year as a Stadler Fellow and to have poet Justin Boening returning for his second year in the fellowship, in addition to poets Corey Miller and Diana Khoi Nguyen who will each spend a semester with us as this year's Philip Roth Residents in Creative Writing. Learn more about applying to our fellowship and/or residency programs.

Finally, we hope visitors to the Stadler Center and Lewisburg in the coming year will enjoy a tour of the Poetry Path, the Stadler Center's public art project opened in August 2012. Featuring poems in 2014-15 by Marilyn Hacker, Rita Dove, Yusef Komunyakaa, Marie Howe, Natasha Trethewey, Gregory Orr, Dean Young, and others, the Poetry Path brings poetry into the community and everyday lives of individuals. For more information on the project and dates of upcoming tours, please visit

For contributions that help to make our programming possible, we are grateful to the Stadler family, Gary & Sandra Sojka, and the many individuals whose generosity each year enables us to achieve our mission of promoting contemporary poetry and of supporting writers at various stages of development. If you wish to foster the work of the Stadler Center for Poetry, please consider making a gift — no amount is too small.

We hope to see you at one or more of our events this year. On behalf of everyone at the Stadler Center, I thank you for your support of the Stadler Center and of poets and poetry everywhere.

All best wishes,

Shara McCallum
