Interpersonal Process Group: Weekly on Wednesdays 2:30 - 4 p.m. (held in the Counseling & Student Development Center - Lowry House)
An interpersonal process-oriented group invites members to talk about their concerns without any planned topics or activities. This group is designed to give students with a variety of presenting concerns a confidential and emphatic space to elicit feedback and support from their peers. Members may talk about a variety of issues, such as loneliness, relationship problems, loss, struggles to feel good about themselves, balancing different stresses, academic challenges, and managing intense feelings.
Members may initially feel anxious about the lack of structure in a process-oriented group, but the leaders help members feel more comfortable and assist the group in starting. As the group members get to know each other, many members appreciate the freedom of being able to decide how they want to use the time each week in group. Group provides an opportunity to practice new behaviors within a safe and supportive environment as group members learn to interact in a more genuine and confident manner.
