Take Back the Night

Take Back the Night is an awareness event with the mission of ending all forms of sexual, relationship, and domestic violence. The event, which is held in hundreds of locations each year across more than 30 countries, began in the 1970’s, with one of the earliest Take Back the Night events held in Philadelphia.

At Bucknell, Take Back the Night brings the community together in our shared mission to end sexual assault and dating violence on campus. The event, which is typically held at the end of October, begins with a short program of student speakers, including survivors, friends of survivors, and allies, followed by a silent walk or period of reflection.

The Clothesline Project

The Clothesline Project is displayed each year at Bucknell to bear witness to sexual assault and dating violence on our campus and around the world. Members of the campus community are invited to create t-shirts with messages in support of survivors, regarding their own experience or that of someone close to them, or to simply take a stand against sexual and dating violence. The t-shirts are displayed in the Bertrand Library during October.

Sex Week

In Spring 2017, Speak UP Bucknell collaborated with several departments and student organizations on campus for ‘Sex Week,’ a series of educational workshops, lectures, and events focusing on sexuality, consent, health, and safety. Featured events included Healthy Relationships Workshops lead by Speak UP Bucknell Peer Educators, an inflatable maze game featuring trivia about consent, bystander intervention and campus resources, and educational lectures on sexuality and sexual health.

The Red Flag Campaign

Brought to Bucknell in Spring 2016, The Red Flag Campaign encourages members of the Bucknell community to recognize the "red flags" that might signal an unhealthy or abusive relationship, and to intervene if they notice these red flags in others' relationships. | Learn more about the Red Flag Campaign.
