Since 1987, Bucknell University has organized an annual Black Experiences Lecture. Each fall the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Gender sponsors this lecture, focused primarily on the African American experience.

This installation of war shirts at the Samek Art Museum celebrates her-stores of seven warrior women of the African Diaspora. Precious Lovell has used the traditional silhouettes of African warrior/hunter shirts as canvases, on which to handcraft cloth with surface embellished details that symbolically honor and protect each woman as a response to the battles she fought.
