Andranae Nelson '17 at her externship with Andy Yost '87I would definitely recommend the Externship program to other students because it gives them an opportunity to apply what they are learning at Bucknell in a real-world setting. Finding a place to practice and apply your skills is always valuable. — Andranae Nelson '17, double major in markets, innovation & design as well as Spanish

A real eye-opener

Available to sophomores, a Bucknell externship consists of two consecutive days shadowing a sponsor, observing, and gaining a better understanding of day-to-day workplace activity and culture.

Students benefit from early exposure to career and industry paths, which informs their decisions about choice of major, coursework and internship selection. In addition, externships help prepare students for networking with alumni, parents, friends and employers.

Sponsors benefit by becoming more involved with the larger Bucknell community in both the volunteer and career-networking realms. In addition, the program can assist with early identification of future student employees and/or interns.
