Student interns have a variety of responsibilities, from maintaining the social media presence for the Institute, promoting events to fellow students, helping organize events and brainstorming activities for the Institute, hosting speakers and the Advisory Board, and writing weekly op-ed columns for the Bucknellian. If you are interested in getting involved, watch for openings at the beginning of the year on The Bridge.
Meet our interns:
Will Bordash '18
I am a senior graduating with a biology major and economics minor. I am also a captain for the Cross Country/Track team at Bucknell. BIPP has given me so much experience in survey and social science analysis, working with faculty mentors, and developing the means to solve my own questions these past few years. Under the guidance of Professor Ellis and Professor Wolaver, I have held the position of Data Analyst for the Bucknell Survey Research Initiative within BIPP.
Caroline Fassett '18
My name is Caroline Fassett, and I'm a senior graduating with degrees in both English and political science. I'm originally from Harding Twp., N.J., and I wanted to be a BIPP intern because I really appreciate the science and services of public policy and wanted to immerse myself in it at the University.
Caldwell Harden '19
I am pursuing a double major in political science and economics. In addition to being a BIPP Intern, I have been VP of Philanthropy for my sorority and Co-President of Unite & Inspire. I have interned for Senator Whitehouse (RI) and have been a participant in the Institute for Leadership in Technology & Management (ILTM).
Zach Krivine '18
My name is Zach Krivine, a senior majoring in economics and French with a minor in history. Although my interests are wide-ranging, I have been an avid follower of politics from a young age. Some of the best memories of my childhood were watching the McLaughlin Group with my father on Sunday mornings. On Bucknell's campus, engaging with something like BIPP is very important. With today's charged political climate, BIPP works to formulate a discussion around policy, rather than extreme rhetoric.
Nikki Marrone '20
My name is Nikki Marrone and I’m a member of the class of 2020! I’m from Pittsburgh, Pa. and am a pre-law political science major and classics minor. On campus I’m involved in Mock Trial, Love Your Melon, Relay for Life, and the Bucknell Institute of Public Policy. I started interning with the Bucknell Institute of Public Policy because I wanted to learn about what influences people to form their opinions on a variety of issues whether it be something as commonplace as higher education or something as controversial as healthcare reform
Jackson Pierce-Felker '18
My name Is Jackson Pierce, and I’m a senior double majoring in Psychology and English. I’m originally from Rockville, Md., but I’ve been lucky to call Lewisburg my home for the past four years. I chose to work for BIPP because I believe in its efforts to enrich the Bucknell community with ideological diversity. Through this organization, we plant the seeds of change that empower students and faculty to go out and make the world a better place.
Madison Simon '18
Hi, I'm Madison Simon and I am a senior international relations major with a Russian minor. This past summer I was lucky enough to take part in summer research with BIPP under Professor Massaro in the geography department. This research opportunity has allowed me to broaden my horizons and show how a multi-disciplinary major can be applied to domestic policy issues involving the surrounding communities. BIPP has allowed me to access my education in a new and exciting way and I will take the skills I have refined here to my career in the future.
Yiwei Wang '19
Hi everyone, my name is Yiwei. I work at BIPP as a communication and social media marketing intern. As part of the job, I devote lots of time engaging the Bucknell community on social media and promoting BIPP events on campus. I’m always liked meeting new people and making new connections. Fun fact about me: I have travelled about 10 countries up until this point.
Charles Wen '19
I am a management student and I enjoy being involved in areas outside of my academics. Public policy provides me with many different insights to view the world. I am a bike rider and cook during my leisure time.
Brayden Zimmerman '20
I am a sophomore double majoring in math and political science. I am from Hopewell Valley N.J. I'm an active member of the club tennis team and I have a passion for following politics. I am a BIPP intern because it allows me to combine skills I am learning in both of my majors. I really enjoy doing research under the guidance of Professor Ellis.
