Student interns have a variety of responsibilities, from maintaining the social media presence for the Institute, promoting events to fellow students, helping organize events and brainstorming activities for the Institute, hosting speakers and the Advisory Board, and writing weekly op-ed columns for the Bucknellian. If you are interested in getting involved, watch for openings at the beginning of the year on The Bridge.
Meet our interns:
Trey Gaither '21
My name Is Trey Gaither and I’m a sophomore double majoring in economics and Africana studies. I’m originally from Baltimore, Md., but I’ve been lucky to call Lewisburg my home for the past two years. I chose to work for BIPP because I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to be accepted and integrated into the education and social setting that they have chosen to be apart of. BIPP allows for students to voice their concerns and offers many ways to medicate the wounds of inequality that affect every student on the campus, no matter their identity. We plant seeds to one day grow into beautiful trees that will provide a safe haven for students who are seeking solitude and refuge from the daunting outside world.
Anthony Maisano '21
My name is Anthony Maisano and I am majoring in accounting & financial management on the CFA track. When not doing work as a BIPP intern, I am a part of Bucknell’s Student Government, am the president of the model united nations club, and work as a finance intern. I was inspired to join BIPP because I wanted to further understand and spread the word about the current political climate. Through providing a forum for discussion, BIPP is creating a foundation for curiosity, passion, and knowledge within Bucknell’s campus, that I hope every student, faculty, and staff member spreads to the greater world.
Annie Maley '21
Hi, I’m Annie Maley and I’m a sophomore from Pittsburgh, PA. I am pursuing a double major in political science and environmental studies. In addition to interning for BIPP, on campus I am also involved in Bucknell Club Field Hockey, Unite & Inspire, and Greek life. Last semester I had the opportunity to take part in a fellowship with NextGen America focused on voter registration.
Nikki Marrone '20
My name is Nikki Marrone and I’m a member of the class of 2020! I’m from Pittsburgh, Pa. and am a pre-law political science major and classics minor. On campus I’m involved in Mock Trial, Love Your Melon, Relay for Life, and the Bucknell Institute of Public Policy. I started interning with the Bucknell Institute of Public Policy because I wanted to learn about what influences people to form their opinions on a variety of issues whether it be something as commonplace as higher education or something as controversial as healthcare reform
Harry Morris '20
I am a politically interested economic student. I enjoy helping BIPP organize events around campus and discussing current events with everyone involved. I especially enjoy the freedom provided for our articles, which lets us be creative and free thinking.
Nicole Reddig ‘22
My name is Nicole Reddig and I am a first-year from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I plan on double majoring in political science and education, with a particular interest in education policy and advocacy. I am excited to join the BIPP team so that I can spread informed awareness about policy issues and hopefully foster some political interest among my peers in the Bucknell community.
Yiwei Wang '19
Hi everyone, my name is Yiwei. As the PR and Communications intern for Bucknell Institute for Public Policy, I'm mainly responsible for the Institute’s social media, Insights articles, and alumni outreach. I design interesting and engaging events to advertise the Institute on campus. I also write on The Bucknellian regularly under the BIPP Opinion section and contribute Insights articles on BIPP Blog frequently.
Fun fact about me: I have traveled about 10 countries up until this point.
Brayden Zimmerman '20
I am a sophomore double majoring in math and political science. I am from Hopewell Valley N.J. I'm an active member of the club tennis team and I have a passion for following politics. I am a BIPP intern because it allows me to combine skills I am learning in both of my majors. I really enjoy doing research under the guidance of Professor Ellis.
