All senior engineers complete a senior design project. You get to do research and create a project on a topic related to your major. I decided to focus on anaerobic digestion, which involves turning food waste into energy.

Congratulations on your graduation, Dajah!

"In high school I couldn't decide which major to choose, so I was looking for a university that could offer me both engineering and management. When I found the five-year dual degree program at Bucknell, I was so excited, because it was the perfect fit for my needs and interests.

"I applied to the program through the Posse Foundation, and was one of eleven students selected to create the first Los Angeles Posse on Bucknell's campus. The Posse Foundation grants scholarships to high-achieving students in public high schools that may be overlooked by the traditional college selection process. Being a part of Posse meant I had ten other students on this campus that I was already connected to before freshman year started. Posse's partnership with Bucknell gave me the opportunity to attend the university I was dreaming of.

"Bucknell has a lot of amazing partnerships, one being the study abroad program in London. I was afraid I wouldn't to be able to attend because of my double major, but Bucknell made the experience possible. I studied abroad during the fall of my junior year, and was incredibly lucky because Professor Higgins from civil & environmental engineering was on the trip as well. He was my advisor and helped me to begin my senior design project early. All senior engineers complete a senior design project. You get to do research and create a project on a topic related to your major. I decided to focus on anaerobic digestion, which involves turning food waste into energy.  Now, I conduct research with Professor Higgins on campus, which is helping me hone my interests and figure out what I want to do after graduation.

"As my Bucknell experience comes to a close, I realize how much my professors and classmates have helped me grow. Coming from the West Coast, I felt a little out of place at first. Now I can confidently call this place home. I'm definitely going to miss this beautiful campus when I leave, especially in the fall."
