The projects I have done in MIDE are unlike any case study I could possibly complete. Challenges arise, tensions heat up, but ultimately these projects have taught me what it is like to work with real business owners who are making real decisions.

Shiri will work for Urban Outfitters, Inc. in planning and merchandising for the brand Anthropologie in the Philadelphia corporate office.

"I decided on Bucknell because I had been searching for a liberal arts university that was bigger than most liberal arts colleges and had a separate School of Management. After visiting Bucknell, I fell in love with the beautiful campus and local Lewisburg community. 

"I also fell in love with the markets, innovation & design (MIDE) major the minute I heard about it during admitted student day before my freshman year. I loved the idea of being able to explore multiple medias in marketing without being confined to being a marketing major. I became a women's and gender studies minor after my first week taking Introduction to Women's and Gender Studies. The course helped me realize I had a passion for minority issues and gender studies.   

"I have been very interested in social justice since I participated in numerous volunteer programs in high school. Being Jewish, my faith has reminded me of the importance of recognizing those who are undergoing struggle as well as the importance of giving back to the community.  

"When I came to Bucknell, my love for social justice grew even more as I became passionate about feminist issues. Women's and gender studies and management coincide, as key gender inequality issues are centered around business practices, wages and marketing. Now, I see how media affects gender perception and recognize how social construction influences products, advertisements and businesses. By having both backgrounds, I have been able to provide a new perspective during discussion in many of my classes and in my life.    

"The most exciting part of MIDE for me has been learning how to challenge myself and be creative in new ways. It's pushed me to apply myself to achieve the best results in virtually any project. Through MIDE 300 we had the opportunity to work on web design for a local non-profit, CommUnityZone. By working directly with the client, I learned how to be professional and how to communicate with clients and teammates in an efficient and respectful way.   

"I've also had the opportunity to create a marketing campaign for a previously unsuccessful product and develop a marketing strategy for another local non-profit. The projects I have done in MIDE are unlike any case study I could possibly complete. Challenges arise, tensions heat up, but ultimately these projects have taught me what it is like to work with real business owners who are making real decisions. I have been able to hone in on my skills in a way that has given me work experience and taught me life lessons most people have to wait until their first job to have."
