On Sunday, Aug. 23, the Bucknell community celebrated Convocation and Candlelighting, two University traditions that mark the official beginning of the academic year. At Convocation, President Bravman dared students to confront their intellectual limits and invest in their own education. After the ceremony, the campus community gathered on the Malesardi Quad and and held candles in a circle of light representing the light of knowledge.

The events capped off New Student Orientation activities welcoming the Class of 2019. Below, get a sneak peek of Orientation, Convocation and Candlelighting photos. See our Facebook galleries for more images, and check the Class of 2019 page for more photos and video coverage.
