International Student Orientation gives new international students an opportunity to settle in, explore campus, and form a supportive community prior to New Student Orientation. Due to visa compliance requirements, attendance is mandatory for any international student on a U.S. visa. Each year, we also have several students from the US that choose to attend.
International Orientation (IO) is an amazing way to start your career at Bucknell! You will get to know other students from the U.S. as well as many other countries around the world.
Your International Orientation Leaders (IOL's) and International Orientation Assistants (IOA's) help you get the most out of this week. Get ready for group activities, a trip to an amusement park, skit night, games with other pre-orientation programs, plus a formal evening event to end the program!
During IO, you will have the opportunity to complete your immigration registration, open a bank account and receive your medical history clearance. In addition, you will meet academic deans, faculty, and staff as you learn about health insurance, academic support resources, library services on campus and more.
The program is sponsored by International Student Services, and is run by enthusiastic upper-class students (IOL's and IOA's) who welcome you to Bucknell and maintain their relationship with you throughout your first year here. This exciting program is sure to serve as a firm basis for your future years at Bucknell.
