Health & Safety

Bucknell has implemented policies and procedures to ensure health and safety at campus dining facilities, based on the expertise of food safety experts and in alignment with CDC guidelines. Information about what you can expect in campus dining facilities may be found below.

What You Can Expect in Dining Areas

  • In the four swipe-in dining venues (Bostwick Marketplace, the Terrace Room, the Bison and the Commons Café) students will enter the dining area, swipe to pay for their meal and proceed through the line. Students may select multiple items but may only make one trip through the line.
  • At every lunch and dinner, there will be at least five entrée selections, including a vegan option, along with side dishes, desserts and drinks. As you pass through the line, you can request as many entrées and dishes as you care to eat. Bags will be provided at each dining location.
  • All food will be served by a dining team member in to-go packaging. There will be no self-service.
  • Only disposable cutlery and pre-packaged condiments will be available to reduce shared touch points.
  • No self-service areas, bars, buffets or made-to-order stations will be available in order to reduce multiple touch points.
  • The same menu will be offered daily in all four dining locations to help spread dining traffic around campus and streamline service.
  • The Flying Bison will be parked on campus and offer simple coffee drinks and snacks during the day and late at night on Fridays and Saturdays. Social distancing and crowd-control measures around the food truck will be in place.

Social Distance and Face Coverings

  • Students should maintain social distance while waiting in line. Reminders about social distancing will be posted in dining venues, including floor markings at serving stations.
  • Diners must wear face coverings at all times when they are not seated and actively eating, including while waiting in line. Dining team members will also wear face coverings and gloves.
  • Seating at indoor dining venues will be limited to maintain physical distance. Additional outdoor seating for students to gather and eat meals will be available.

Cleaning and Other Safety Measures

  • Dining Services will abide by a stringent cleaning and sanitizing schedule, which includes all guest contact surfaces, tables, door handles and other high-touch surfaces.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available to guests at multiple locations throughout all dining venues.
