Hey everyone! I’m Patricia, a junior biomedical engineering major with an anticipated minor in anthropology. I am from Norristown, Pa, a town right outside of Philadelphia. At Bucknell I enjoy participating in different groups related to engineering such as being a project leader in E-NABLE, the class of 2023 representative for BMES, a Garman Guide, and a member of SWE (Society of Women Engineers). I am also involved in research on campus in the chemical engineering department with the Vogel lab. I am excited to be more involved with the GenFirst program and hope to make a positive impact on both incoming and current first generation students on Bucknell’s campus!
Hi! My name is Sal Iovino and I’m a sophomore economics major from Ridgefield, CT in the College of Arts and Sciences minoring in Spanish and Literary Studies. On campus, I am a section editor at the Bucknellian and was an Orientation Assistant this past year for the Class of 2025. I am also hoping to pursue research this upcoming summer through the Program for Undergraduate Research in the economics department concerning developing economies in Latin America. After graduating, I plan to either attend law school or pursue graduate economics education to focus on economic development. The opportunity to work closely with my professors has been one of the most valuable pieces of my Bucknell experience. My interest in development economics and creating equitable economic solutions has been largely influenced by conversations I have had with those in the department, and it has made my postgraduate goals far more clear to me. Being a first-generation student is a unique experience at Bucknell, and I hope to be able to provide support and be a resource to other first-generation students as they pursue their Bucknell education!
