LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Downtown Art Gallery presents "Makeover", an exhibition of works by California-based artists Elliot Anderson and Bill Domonkos. "Makeover" opens to the public on Wednesday, April 10, and will be on view through June 30. Admission is free during gallery hours: Wednesday through Friday, noon to 7 p.m.; weekends noon to 5 p.m.
Elliot Anderson's work incorporates a wide range of media including video, sound, computer interaction, animation, and digital imaging. His work includes interactive computer sculptures and installation, public art, interactive video for performance, and digital photography.
Bill Domonkos is an experimental filmmaker and video artist. His work combines computer animation, still photography, live footage and manipulated archive film footage. His work has been broadcast and shown internationally in cinemas, film festivals, galleries and museums from Paris, Budapest, and Mexico City to the National Gallery in London.
Beautiful and even dream-like at times, the works featured in "Makeover" reimagine the average landscape and film montage. "Both artists remix, mash-up, and Makeover still and moving found images to create new meaning and expressive potential," says Director and Chief Curator Richard Rinehart.
Future public programming for "Makeover" include artist talks with Anderson and Domonkos during their visit to campus later this month.
On Tuesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m., the Downtown Art Gallery and Bucknell's Department of Film/Media Studies will co-sponsor an intimate film screening and artist Q&A with Domonkos. Admission for this event is $2 and will be immediately followed by a reception in the Downtown Art Gallery, located at 416 Market St.
On Thursday, April 18, Elliot Anderson will present an artist talk in the Downtown Art Gallery from 6 to 7 p.m. The Chantana Thai Food Truck, a community favorite, will cater a post-lecture reception with a mixed menu of fare and drink. All food will be free for guests until approximately 8 p.m.
